Word of the Year. Did you get in on that game?
If you picked one back in January, are you still thinking of it now?
2021 is my first year identifying a word and I’ve done pretty well focusing my intentions on that word so far this year. #80percentorso⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I chose HOME this year because 2020 was a year of sprinting for me. Everything was changing all of the time – me included. I started the year in Grand Cayman, then jetted off to Spokane and Dallas before COVID-19 sent us all back home. But even when I was “home” during the pandemic, I wasn’t quite “home”. I still spent much of my time last year chasing and finagling and negotiating and achieving. And that’s all okay.
I’m still so thankful to myself for all of it. For the hustle. For keeping things moving. For the growth and learning and opportunities I created for myself.
It was an amazing year. The year that I really, truly learned that there is NOT better than here.
So in 2021 I’ve been focusing on enjoying here rather than getting there.
I am creating a sense of HOME in my calendar. I figured out how to take the whole of Thursday (during regular work hours) off to spend time with my family. I still host the Defying Gravity group on Thursday nights this round, but the intentional open space in my week has really make a difference in my relationship with myself.
I am creating a sense of HOME in my body. I bought a treadmill because I decided I don’t yet love the Peloton. And I didn’t make myself wrong for spending money on the Peloton that I probably won’t use as often as I thought I would. I just honored my decision and support myself in doing the workout that feels right to me.
I am also still offering a sense of HOME to all of you – there is a safe space for sharing, acknowledgement, peace, belief and love to any Bee who wants it. #igotyou
